Teachers, bring your students to the Aga Khan Museum, where our mission is to connect cultures through art using curriculum-linked experiential learning.
PRIMARY: GRADES 1–3
Our primary-level programs support the natural curiosity of young learners through playful, hands-on activities.
Students embark on a pattern hunt in the galleries, discover the building blocks of beautiful designs, then create a clay tile inspired by what they’ve seen. Then, keep the learning going beyond the visit as their art becomes part of a larger mosaic masterpiece.
Students explore what makes a good story and the ways stories are told, learn how to “hear” the stories told by art and historical objects, then create their own story panel inspired by their time at the Museum.
Students explore the ways different cultures use beautiful writing as decoration, then create their own English-language calligraphy inspired by the Arabic calligraphic arts.
Students learn about colours, methods, and materials artists used in the past. Then they get hands-on and experiment with mixing colours to create something beautiful out of something ordinary.
Traders and Trading in the Ancient World
Students become traders, as they explore the ancient world of the silk routes. Through stories and hands-on trading activities, they discover the importance of geography and how a plant can be worth more than gold.
Lead your students through the galleries at your own pace, and choose how to use our collection to support your classroom learning.
