Rising Together blends mesmerizing musical performances, a captivating multimedia presentation, and poetry recitations that bring Arabic music and Canadian collaborations together. The Haneen Women's Choir will be honouring and celebrating the strength and diversity of women within the Arab diaspora and beyond — from devoted mothers and cherished family members to dedicated professionals, influential decision-makers, accomplished artists, advocates for peace, and creative visionaries.

About the Haneen Women's Choir

The Haneen Women's Choir and its associated non-profit organization were founded in 2018 by Rahaf Alakbani. Haneen is a Toronto-based organization with a mission to reinvigorate Arab heritage, preserve Arab identity, and empower newcomer women through the power of music. Their core objective is to uplift Arab women in Canada by providing a nurturing platform for musical and artistic expression and fostering a safe and supportive community for women to share their love for music. Beyond music, they offer social and emotional support, helping Arab women integrate into Canadian society through arts-focused programs.

The Museum’s Performing Arts programming is generously supported by the Nanji Family Foundation.
