Join the Aga Khan Museum, the Consulate General of the Republic of France in Toronto, and the French Institute for an evening of art, performance, and ideas rooted in the humanity’s defining challenge of the 21st century. How can we make our planet inhabitable again?

A World in Common on Thursday, January 27 will feature contributions from a diverse line-up of artists, activists, and leaders — thinkers who enrich our own understanding of our relationship with the natural world and how we can preserve it for future generations.

Streaming for free on the Museum’s Facebook page starting at 8 pm ET, this captivating programme will include:

  • An original performance by poet and Antiguan-Québécoise spoken-word artist Tawhida Tanya Evanson and Iranian tanbur and setar master Pooria Pournazeri
  • A lively talk inspired by the 2020 French documentary Composer les Mondes — which portrays how residents of a town in western France successfully thwarted the construction of a new airport, and in doing so, revealed new ways of experiencing the world. Panelists: Composer les Mondes director Eliza Levy; Marine Calmet, lawyer; and Lisa Janz,  anthropologist, University of Toronto. Co-moderated by: Aga Khan Museum Director and CEO Ulrike Al-Khamis and Hadrien Laroche, writer and critic, cultural attaché, at the French Consulate.
  • A special encore presentation of Radha Chaddha’s IAM: Dance of the Molecules, an electrifying story about humanity’s encounters with the coronavirus, told through dance and light

Stream Composer les Mondes free
