Family Day Weekend in Partnership with the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto

Date: February 18–20, 2023, 10 am–5:30 pm

This Family Day weekend, celebrate Lunar New Year at the Aga Khan Museum with exciting activities and performances presented in partnership with the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto.

 

Don't miss our special programming all weekend long! Enjoy free performances, demonstrations, and activities where you can get creative with free hands-on fun for the whole family.

 

Schedule

Paper Making Workshop
$10 | 10 am–12 pm and 1:30–3:30 pm | Ages 6+

Explore the ancient art of paper-making in this hands-on workshop*, where you'll create your own unique handcrafted paper inspired by the Museum's manuscript collection.

Arts and Crafts
Free | 11 am–5 pm

Welcome the Year of the Rabbit with origami and paper crafts that reflect the symbolic significance of the new year.

 

Calligraphy Demonstration
Free | 11 am–5 pm

 

Lion Dance
Free | 12 pm and 3 pm

Experience a traditional Lion Dance — a dance believed to drive away bad spirits and negative energies, as well as usher in good luck and prosperity for the New Year.

 

Pop-Up Performances

Free | 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm, and 3:30 pm

Look and listen for Pop-up Performances by local artists in the Museum's Atrium. 

 

Shaolin Kung Fu Demonstration
Free |  1 pm

 

Chinese Music Ensemble and Workshop
Free | 2 pm

Enjoy a mesmerizing performance followed by a special meet and greet where you'll get the opportunity to interact with the artists and their musical instruments.

 

Museum admission is not required to participate in free family activities.
