Canadian Opera Company's Free Concert Series: Ensemble Sayr
LOCATION: Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, 145 Queen St W.

The hypnotic sounds of the santur and percussion are united with the captivating movement of Sufi whirling in this performance of traditional Persian and Sufi music, featuring Farzad AttarJafari (whirling dervish), Naghmeh Farahmand (percussion), and Amir Amiri (santur).

Canadian Opera Company's Free Concert Series: Fethi Nadjem Trio
LOCATION: Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, 145 Queen St. W
DATE & TIME: Tuesday, April 7, 2020, 12 pm

Algerian multi-instrumentalist, Fethi Nadjem performs with virtuosic Syrian clarinetist Majd Sekkar and Peruvian percussionist Matias Recharte. Together they explore the music of Syria, Iran, and the Balkans.

MALAGASY GUITAR: MUSIC FROM MADAGASCAR WITH D’GARY AND WEN ZHAO
LOCATION: Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, 145 Queen St W, Toronto

D’Gary, widely considered to be one of the top slide guitarists in the world, will give a solo performance as part of the Canadian Opera Company’s free lunchtime performance series. Opening his performance, will be Wen Zhao, a pipa virtuoso.

WOMEN IN PERCUSSION FESTIVAL: RAJNA SWAMINATHAN

Boston/New York-based mrudangam artist and composer Rajna Swaminathan brings together a unique ensemble of Toronto-based improvisers for a collaborative exploration of sound and movement.
