Hear the stories behind the Indian art treasures in our Museum Collection. Curator Marika Sardar, specialist in South Asian art, will guide you on a visual journey, delving into the world of illuminated Qur’ans, Mughal court paintings, and Portuguese trade goods.
Dr. Marika Sardar is a Curator at the Aga Khan Museum. She has worked at museums in Doha, San Diego, and New York, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, producing exhibitions on narrative in Indian painting, the art of the Deccan sultanates, and trade textiles of the 16th–18th centuries. A specialist in South Asian art, she is currently working on a publication of a Ramayana manuscript that once belonged to Hamida Banu Begum, mother of Mughal emperor Akbar.
