The 2022 Aga Khan Museum Camp welcomes kids back to the Museum for summer fun with friends old and new. For the second year in a row, we're proud to offer our Summer Camps both on-site and virtually! Read below for more information on both.

About the Camp

The Aga Khan Museum Camp sessions run weekly for six weeks starting on July 4, 2022.

This year’s Camp theme is “Image.” What power do images have in shaping our imagination? How do they represent our identities and values? What lessons can we learn from and communicate through them? Explore these questions and more at the Aga Khan Museum during a week filled with engaging art activities, cultural exploration, and self-reflection.

Spark your imagination at the Aga Khan Museum Summer Camp and explore images and stories across time and place. As Campers venture into a dazzling world of images in our IMAGE? The Power of the Visual exhibition, they will learn about courageous heroes, powerful leaders, and loving people who have always imagined a more hopeful future. Across a 5-day journey, Campers will reflect on their own identities and future as they create art in different ways, using painting, sculpture, photography, and drama to express themselves.

Camper Safety

The safety of our Campers, Staff, and our extended Museum family are a top priority for us. Camp 2022 will follow Toronto Public Health recommendations and provincial health guidelines for day camps. Guidelines include lower ratios and capacity, physical distancing, mandatory health screening, and enhanced facility cleaning. Please note that these procedures are subject to change based on Toronto Public Health guidelines.

Image and Ideals

July 4–July 8

July 11–July 15

This week, Campers will go back in time and travel across the world through the stories told by the artworks in the Aga Khan Museum Collection and IMAGE? exhibition. During this journey, they will meet leaders, heroes and heroines who exemplify the timeless ideals of bravery, generosity, and love in their time. Inspired by their courageous actions, Campers will use their imagination and different art forms to reflect on and create their own heroes.

Image and Identity

July 18–July 22

July 25–July 29

This week, Campers will embark on a journey of self-discovery to explore how people in the past and present portray and reflect their ‘image’ and identity in visual form. Using different artforms, from photography and painting to word art, Campers will reflect on their own identities and create art pieces that represent who they are or how they see themselves.

Image and Global Self

August 8–August 12

August 15–August 19

This week, Campers will venture into the IMAGE? Exhibition and Aga Khan Museum Collection to learn about how different societies saw themselves in the past and how they create a legacy for the future. Campers will be invited to use the arts to envision a brighter future for us all as global citizens of this world and explore their individual roles in it.

Please note: Drop-off is between 8:45 and 9 am and pick-up is between 3:45 and 4 pm. Extended care is not available.
