Welcome to the Aga Khan Museum
Founded in 2014, the Aga Khan Museum is dedicated to fostering intercultural dialogue and understanding. With a Permanent Collection of over 1,200 masterpieces and innovative performing arts and educational programming, the Museum serves as a catalyst for mutual understanding through the arts.

His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV, 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and Patron of the Aga Khan Museum, passed away peacefully in Lisbon on February 4, 2025, aged 88, surrounded by his family. Prince Karim Aga Khan was the founder and chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network.
The Aga Khan was deeply engaged in the arts and cultural matters and established programs and initiatives to support architecture, music, and conservation. Underlining his commitment to preserving Muslim heritage, in 2014, His Highness opened the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, home to over 1,000 masterpieces showcasing the arts of Muslim civilizations.
The staff and volunteers of the Aga Khan Museum offer our condolences to the family of His Highness and to the Ismaili community worldwide. As we honour the legacy of our founder, Prince Karim Aga Khan, we continue to work with our partners to improve the quality of life for individuals and communities across the world.
