Immerse yourself in the mesmerizing world of water marbling — an ancient technique of floating pigments on water and transferring them onto paper to create intricate, fluid designs.

Practiced for centuries across the Islamic world, particularly in regions such as Türkiye, Iran, and the Indian subcontinent, water marbling has been used to adorn calligraphy, manuscripts, and decorative papers. In this introductory workshop, you will explore its rich history and cultural significance while mastering traditional tools and methods to produce a variety of classic patterns. Guided step-by-step, you will create between five and eight unique works on paper to take home — each a one-of-a-kind reflection of colour, movement, and your own creative expression.
