Warren is an internationally recognized musician and educator with decades of involvement in the artistic and pedagogical traditions of India as well as those of Western, African, and African-American music. He has received numerous fellowships and awards for his mastery of the Hindustani khayal vocal style; his concerts in India, Europe, and North America have been widely acclaimed.
Warren continues to be in the Music-in-Education faculty at New England Conservatory of Music. His previous lecture/demonstrations for Raag-Mala Toronto, and at the Aga Khan Museum, were much-admired for his ability to talk about raag music, a complex art form, in simple everyday language free from jargon, and in an immensely entertaining manner. Warren’s vocal recital will be followed by a moderated discussion on the course “Entering the World of Raga”, including Q&A from the audience.
