Andrew Kay conjures worlds out of sound. A Toronto-based saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and sound healing practitioner/educator, he moves between Indian Classical Raga, Indo-Jazz, Contemporary Jazz, and experimental music with the ease of someone who has spent a lifetime diving deep into cultures and then dissolving the boundaries between traditions/ Among the first musicians anywhere to perform Northern Indian Classical music on the Alto Saxophone, Andrew has shaped singular sonic experiences alongside world-renowned maestros across India, Europe, and North America. In 2025, he brought his alchemical practice to Nuit Blanche with a featured performance and installation in the courtyard of the Aga Khan Museum. He returns in 2026 with The Transcendent Dome: Illuminated Echoes — an all-night immersive sound world inside a glowing inflatable dome, where raga, surround sound, and resonant gongs conspire to take you somewhere you didn’t know you needed to go.

Jonathan Kay, Ph.D., is a Grammy winning and Juno nominated multi-instrumentalist from Toronto, Canada. After graduating from Humber College with Honours in Jazz Studies (saxophone), he studied North Indian Raga in Kolkata and Japanese shakuhachi in Kyoto. Integrating these contemplative traditions with experimental improvisation, he developed a distinctive voice in contemporary music. From 2008–2018, he lived in Kolkata, studying Raga through voice, saxophone, and esraj, and created the shrutiphone, a customized saxophone tuned for Raga. He is among the first to perform full solo Raga on saxophone at a professional level in India. In Canada, he has cultivated transcultural music as leader of several ensembles, performing internationally across Canada, India, USA, and Japan.
