The festival honours India’s rich cinematic legacy while creating a global platform for screenings, retrospectives, cultural exchange, and dialogue between cinema, literature, and the performing arts.
As part of Romantic Ravivaar at CLIFF 2026, Silsila returns to the big screen inviting audiences to rediscover its music, poetry, and complex exploration of love and marriage.
Silsila
In Silsila, Amit’s life takes an unexpected course when duty and family commitments lead him into marriage, even as his feelings for Chandni remain unresolved. A chance reunion brings the past into the present, setting in motion a story of desire, loyalty, responsibility, and the consequences of difficult choices.
Directed by Yash Chopra, the 1981 film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Rekha, and Sanjeev Kumar. Its poetry, unforgettable music, and emotionally layered performances have made Silsila one of the most enduring and discussed relationship dramas in Hindi cinema.
