The Eagleheart Singers are a highly respected drum group who have been performing in Toronto and beyond for over 25 years. Led by Jimmy Dick of the Moose Cree Nation and his partner Marie Gaudet, a registered member of Wikwemikong First Nation, the group includes their sons James, Gabriel, Josh, and daughter Emily Rose.

Jimmy and Marie are known for their deep commitment to community and their generous sharing of cultural knowledge through education and advocacy. The group’s music has been featured in various films and recordings, and their performances continue to inspire and bring people together through the power of song and ceremony.

Like Canadian KAYAM’s East African, Indian, and British family history, the young singer-songwriter’s music traverses global forms of pop, afrobeats, and R&B. KAYAM boasts performances alongside Pink Sweat$ at the Calgary Stampede in 2023, his sold-out two-stop headline tour in August 2023, co-signs from Ali Gatie and Giveon, and recognition from CBC Radio, Virgin Radio, HipHopDX,, the Toronto Star, and more. With the viral successes and millions of streams on recent records Ride For Me, Your Soniya, Dangerous Girl, and fresh off the sold-out UK tour with global superstar Jay Sean, KAYAM is the new artist to watch.

Natasha Noorani is a musician, music historian, and festival director from Lahore, Pakistan. She is known for her versatility as a singer-songwriter, playback singer, and voice-over artist. Her 2023 debut album RONAQ, co-produced with Talal Qureshi and Abdullah Siddiqui, blends pop, R&B, electronic, and subcontinental music.

In 2024, she featured on Umair’s album “Rockstar Without A Guitar” and performed her second appearance on Velo Sound Station. Noorani has also contributed to Talal Qureshi’s album Turbo and performed at Boiler Room Pakistan (2022). Her hit songs include “Faltu Pyar”, “Baby Baby”, and “Choro”, and she has collaborated with artists like Strings, Hasan Raheem, Maanu, and Talal Qureshi.

Noorani co-founded and co-directs Lahore Music Meet, Pakistan’s premier music festival, and previously managed Coke Studio Season 10 and top band Strings. She also leads Peshkash, an archival project promoting 20th-century Pakistani music, and has contributed to publications like Dawn and Herald. Noorani’s leadership extends to roles in the British Council’s Women in Music program and at CityFM89.

Led by piano player Jorge Betancourt and featuring some of the city’s top players, Café Cubano was one of the first all-Cuban, full salsa bands formed in Canada. The group has spawned numerous other projects and continues to be a trailblazer in Toronto’s timba scene.

Born in Camangüey, Cuba, the son of a famous symphonic orchestra conductor, Jorge Betancourt began his career with Charanga 86 before going on to work with Orquesta Trinima, Salsometro and the influential Valentine y los del Caribe. In Canada, he has earned a reputation for his animated stage presence and an inventive fusion of salsa, R&B, funk and timba with traditional son and guaracha forms.

Experience the culmination of the 2024 Intercultural and Creative Music Fellowship, a 14-week multidisciplinary project, with a concert featuring original songs inspired by light and a documentary capturing the creative journey. 

In the summer of 2024, eight Humber College Students came together to form the band Solara. Inspired by the architecture of the Aga Khan Museum, and the Light: Visionary Perspectives exhibition, Solara composed a suite of six songs, each of which presents a unique answer to the question “How does light guide us?”.

Persian Alchemy is a Toronto-based ensemble rooted in Persian maqam tradition, yet its approach is deeply improvisational. The group blends classical Persian modal structures with Indian rhythmic cycles and experimental textures. Each performance becomes a spontaneous narrative, shaped by the distinct musical colours and energies each member brings to the moment. Through this alchemical fusion, Persian Alchemy offers audiences a transcendent journey where ancient traditions meet present-tense creativity.

Gye Nyame Band is a Ghanaian-Canadian highlife musical group that celebrates the vibrant cultural heritage of Ghana while embracing the multicultural landscape of Canada. The ensemble brings together talented musicians from diverse backgrounds to create a fusion of traditional Ghanaian highlife music with contemporary Canadian influences.

The band’s journey began when a group of passionate musicians from Ghana and Canada came together through a shared love of highlife music. Drawing inspiration from their cultural roots and collective experiences, they embarked on a musical exploration that bridges continents and captivates audiences.

Highlife music — with its infectious rhythms and melodious guitar lines—forms the heart and soul of the ensemble’s sound. Rooted in the musical traditions of Ghana, highlife blends indigenous rhythms with elements of jazz, funk, and Afrobeat. The ensemble’s music reflects a rich tapestry of influences, incorporating lively percussion, soulful vocals, and intricate guitar work.

NARCY, real name Yassin Alsalman, is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Montréal, with roots in Iraq. His musical journey has turned him into an award-winning (video) director, a (viral) professor at Concordia University, and an MC to be reckoned with. With his work spanning across media, his company We Are The Medium marked a 10-year-long independent production run with the opening of art project and book shop MAKTABA in the heart of Old Montréal with his life partner. Yassin is the most prominent Iraqi voice in public culture, challenging the status quo and the institution of persona. His new works focus on the decentralization of industry, celebrity and a re-understanding of what it means to be independent and free in a disconnected digital time. His newest project, To Be An (Arab), is a growing art project which spans video, music, clothing, and art shows.

The Toronto Klezmer Society was founded in November 2018 with the intention to grow the Klezmer and Jewish music scene in Toronto and beyond, push the boundaries of the genre while upholding its history and origins, introduce the music to a new audience, and share knowledge. This website is intended to be an archive and resource for anyone who wants to join in the music, or is curious/enthusiastic about Eastern European Jewish folk music, known as Klezmer.

Proficient in playing the Venezuelan Cuatro, piano, and lending his voice to both singing and songwriting, he creates a vibrant Latin-World sound. With intricate rhythms and uplifting lyrics, his music is a captivating celebration that will inspire you to dance.
