This summer, twenty newcomer youth from the Museum’s surrounding communities will take part in the Frederic Roberts Photography Workshop, an eight-day course designed to empower high school students with a new skill — the art of telling visual stories.
Their stories will then find a home in the Museum’s new photography exhibition, Our Sustainable Future, documenting their vision for the world of tomorrow. With an invitation to focus their lenses on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the young photographers will explore such topics as food security, gender equality, and environmental protection in their communities — probing the challenges of meeting these goals and considering potential solutions.
The visual narratives on display will speak to their diverse cultural perspectives, offering us a glimpse of a young generation’s views and hopes.
The Frederic Roberts Photography Workshop, held biennially at the Museum, aims to teach youth a new language that will last a lifetime.
