Hailed by The New York Times as “one of the world’s great dancers,” Eva Yerbabuena presents Yerbagüena (Oscuro Brillante) — a commanding culmination of her 20-year career.

In this theatrical, expressionistic work, she explores the ever-shifting dialogue between tradition and innovation in flamenco, weaving moments of raw intensity with echoes of Pina Bausch’s avant-garde spirit.

Across four movements, Yerbagüena is a meditation on duality: stillness and motion, rigidity and fluidity, classicism and experimentation, darkness and light. Accompanied by piercing live music, Yerbabuena pushes against structures only to reveal their strength, rejecting modernity even as she immerses herself in it.

At the heart of the performance lies a conviction that defines her artistry: “Continuous transformation is a morbid provocation that not only exists, but also gives meaning to everything.” With her, darkness becomes radiant, and flamenco itself is reimagined as both timeless and fiercely alive.

Peñas

November 20–23

Peñas are informal social venues that bring together audiences and artists to encourage conversation and allow for the appreciation of performances, both planned and spontaneous.

Join us in the Museum’s Atrium as it transforms into a Peña following the performances in the Nanji Family Foundation Auditorium. Mingle with other audience members, the artists, and enjoy the festive atmosphere while diverse local flamenco artists whisk you away each evening.

*Admission to each Peña is included with the ticket purchased for that evening’s performance. Tickets for the Peñas can’t be purchased separately.
