Celebrate Black History Month at the Aga Khan Museum with Artist Mallory Lowe Mpoka
Grades 6–12 students are invited to a thought-provoking talk at the Aga Khan Museum with Mallory Lowe Mpoka, a Cameroonian-Belgian multidisciplinary artist based in Montreal. Mpoka’s work explores themes of identity, kinship, and belonging through a post-colonial lens. Drawing inspiration from stories and experiences that transcend cultural boundaries, Mpoka challenges us to reflect on the interconnectedness of our histories.
Winner of the prestigious Malick Sidibé Prize at the African Biennale of Photography (2022), Mpoka will share insights into her creative process and the power of art as a tool for storytelling and self-discovery. Students will have the unique opportunity to engage in a live Q&A with the artist, deepening their understanding of her work and vision.
