Join us for an illuminating conversation between Dr. Ulrike Al-Khamis, Director and CEO of the Aga Khan Museum and Fatma Al Mahmoud one of the co-curators of our new, ground-breaking exhibition, As the Sun Appears from Beyond: Twenty Years of the Al Burda Award, as they take you behind the scenes of this unique intercultural collaboration and delve into the thought process, narratives, and artistic dialogue of the exhibition. This event also offers a rare insight into the curatorial process and explores how themes of light, transformation, and transcendence are woven through the works on display.

In their conversation, they will unpack the exhibition’s exploration of spiritual and cultural symbolism, the interplay between contemporary and traditional forms, and how the definition of Islamic Art is viewed from within Muslim cultures.
