Together, these components create a dynamic experience that highlights resilience, ingenuity, and the transformative potential of STEM education.
Rule Breakers
Rule Breakers tells the story of a group of young Afghan women who challenge societal expectations to form a robotics team and compete on the global stage. Their journey is one of determination, collaboration, and courage, as they navigate political, cultural, and logistical barriers in pursuit of their passion for science and technology. The film offers a compelling look at how education and innovation can empower individuals and communities, while raising important questions about access, equity, and the role of youth in shaping the future.
Robotics Demonstration
Following the screening, students from Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute will present a live robotics demonstration, offering audiences a firsthand look at how today’s learners are engaging with engineering, coding, and problem-solving. This interactive component showcases the creativity and technical skills of emerging innovators, while drawing a meaningful connection between the film’s themes and the work happening in local classrooms. The demonstration invites curiosity and conversation, making it an inspiring conclusion to an afternoon focused on possibility and potential.
