This Family Day Weekend, celebrate the Lunar New Year at the Aga Khan Museum with exciting activities and performances presented in partnership with the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto.

The Year of the Snake brings exciting opportunities for travel and the support of generous benefactors. It’s a time to embrace new experiences with your loved ones while staying grounded and focused on your health and well-being.

 


The Museum’s Performing Arts programming is generously supported by the Nanji Family Foundation.

Family Day Program

Daily | 10 am–5:30 pm

Please note that the programs listed will occur periodically throughout the day. Exact timings may vary.

Enjoy free performances, live calligraphy demonstrations, and family arts and crafts activities. Don’t miss a weekend of free admission to the Museum Collections Gallery and $10 admission to the current temporary exhibition, Light: Visionary Perspectives.

Toronto Chinese Orchestra
The Toronto Chinese Orchestra (TCO), the longest-running Chinese orchestra in Canada, will perform pieces highlighting the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Chinese music. In the petting zoo session, you will have a chance to learn more about the instruments!

 

Performance Showcase
Including special performers and a martial arts demonstration by the Wayland Li Wushu Centre.

 

Lion Dance
Experience a traditional Lion Dance — a dance believed to drive away bad spirits and negative energies, ushering in good luck and prosperity for the New Year.

 

TD Pop-Up Performances
Look and listen for TD Pop-up Performances by local artists in the Museum’s Atrium.

 

Family Arts and Crafts Activities
Welcome the Year of the Snake with crafts that reflect the symbolic significance of the new year.
