March Break Camps are back with an exciting program filled with art and exploration.

Inspired by the Museum’s collections, campers ages 6 to 12 will embark on creative adventures, fueling their imagination as they experiment with different media to create their own masterpieces and make new friends along the way.

Please note that each camp group requires a minimum of eight (8) campers per age group (Junior and Senior) to proceed.

Daily Schedule

9 am • Camp day begins
10:30 am • Snack break (15 mins)
12 pm • Lunch break (1 hour)
2:30 pm • Snack break (15 mins)
3:45 pm • Pick-up (MUST present ID for pick up)
4 pm • Camp day ends — no extended care available

Important information:

Lunch is not provided. Campers are encouraged to bring their own, along with two snacks.
March Break Camps are a nut-free environment.
Drop-off is between 8:45 and 9 am, and pick-up is between 3:45 and 4 pm.
Extended care is not available.
15-minute parking is free during drop-off and pick-up only.

Program Descriptions

Full-week and single-day registration is available for both Junior and Senior March Break Camps. Register for individual days using the dropdown menus under each description, or click the buttons below to register for all five days.

Junior Camp

Ages: 6-8

Junior Camp explores calligraphy, geometric patterns, traditional materials, bookmaking, and illuminated art inspired by Islamic artistic traditions. Campers create artworks through drawing, painting, printmaking, and hands-on craft activities. Each day introduces a new theme designed to spark curiosity and creative confidence.

Campers discover how artists across the Islamic world transformed words into art. Inspired by historic calligraphy and decorative scripts, they’ll explore the shapes, rhythms, and visual patterns of letters. Through drawing, painting, and printmaking, they’ll turn language into expressive artworks that celebrate writing as a creative form.

From star patterns to interlacing designs, geometry is a cornerstone of Islamic art. Campers will learn how artists use mathematics to build harmony and beauty — experimenting with compass work, symmetry, and tessellations to create striking, frame-worthy geometric compositions.

Campers explore materials and techniques rooted in artistic traditions across the Islamic world. Using handmade papers, simple clay beads, and introductory printmaking, they will experience how artists historically shaped everyday materials into meaningful and beautiful objects.

Bookmaking has a long and celebrated history in Islamic art. Campers will learn simple bookbinding methods while exploring how manuscripts preserve stories, poetry, and illustrations. They will create their own felt-covered artist book and a short zine, weaving personal stories into a handmade object they can proudly take home.

Campers uncover the techniques behind illuminated manuscripts — layering vivid colours, gold accents, and intricate designs to bring scenes to life. They will experiment with metallic details and contrast, learning how artists across the centuries used light to create depth, beauty, and radiance.

Senior Camp

Ages: 9–12

Senior Camp focuses on calligraphy, geometry, decorative techniques, book arts, science-inspired tools, and storytelling from the Islamic world. Campers engage in more complex, multi-step projects using a range of materials and processes. Daily themes encourage deeper exploration, design thinking, and artistic independence.

Campers explore how writing becomes a visual art across Islamic cultures. Through calligraphy-inspired projects, they’ll experiment with letter shapes, spacing, and composition while creating elevated name designs, calligrams, and manuscript-style pages. This day encourages careful craftsmanship, creativity with language, and attention to detail as words are transformed into expressive artworks.

Geometry plays a central role in Islamic art, bringing structure, rhythm, and balance to design. Campers will investigate symmetry, repetition, and pattern-making through hands-on projects such as word tiles, geometric magnets, and stained-glass–inspired tessellations. Activities emphasize focus, patience, and problem-solving while building visually striking designs.

This day focuses on decorative techniques used to enhance artworks through colour and metallic accents. Campers will explore how artists use contrast and reflective materials to add depth and visual interest. Through illuminated designs, textured patterns, and layered embellishments, they’ll develop fine motor skills and learn how surface treatment can transform an artwork.

Campers step into the world of historical innovation, discovering how art and science intersect in Islamic history. They will create their own astrolabe-inspired objects, experiment with embossing techniques, and explore natural pigments. This day encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and experimentation while connecting artistic practice with early scientific tools and methods.

Inspired by Persian storytelling traditions, campers will bring mythical creatures to life through sculpture, painting, and manuscript-style illustrations. By combining imagination with narrative thinking, they will explore how stories were shared visually across generations. The day concludes with expressive artworks that celebrate creativity, storytelling, and artistic interpretation.

March Break Camp Bursary Program

The Aga Khan Museum strives to provide accessible experiences for children and families through various programs. To support this commitment, we have secured and are managing funds to assist families with the costs of our camp programs through March Break Camp bursaries.

The Museum’s Education team reviews each bursary application individually, considering a combination of socio-economic factors.

You may qualify for a March Break Camp bursary if:

Your child is between 6 and 12 years old
Your family is currently experiencing financial hardship or receiving social assistance

All application information and forms will be kept strictly confidential.

To Apply:

Submit a separate application form for each child.
Complete all portions of this form. Sections 1 to 5 are mandatory. Section 6 is optional.
Submit your campers’ required reference letter(s).
After camp, bursary recipients are required to provide an anonymous testimonial (feedback), which will be shared with the donor whose generosity makes the bursaries possible.

As funding is limited, we encourage early applications to ensure consideration.
