Junior Camp
Ages 6–8
This exciting six-week summer camp introduces young artists to the beauty of words, shapes, and patterns in art. Campers will explore calligraphy, geometric design, illumination, and bookmaking while developing their fine motor skills and creative thinking through storytelling, painting, and crafting. By the end of the camp, each child will take home a unique art portfolio filled with their own calligraphy, patterns, and handmade artistic creations.
Senior Camp
Ages 9–12
This immersive art camp gives older kids the opportunity to develop artistic skills while drawing inspiration from the Aga Khan Museum’s Collections and the exhibition, As the Sun Appears from Beyond: Twenty Years of the Al Burda Award. Campers will explore how artists across centuries have used calligraphy, geometry, and illumination to transform words and patterns into breathtaking works of art. Engaging directly with masterpieces from historic manuscripts, architectural designs, and contemporary Islamic art, they will experiment with traditional techniques — such as calligraphy, illumination and pattern-making — and modern approaches to artistic expression. By the end of the camp, each participant will have developed their own portfolio of original work, bridging the past and present through creative exploration and technical skill-building.
Summer Camp Bursary
The Aga Khan Museum strives to provide accessible experiences for children and families through various programs. To support this commitment, we have secured and are managing funds to assist families with the costs of our camp programs through Summer Camp bursaries.
The Museum’s Education team reviews each bursary application individually, considering a combination of socio-economic factors.
You may qualify for a Summer Camp bursary if:
- Your child is between 6 and 12 years old.
- Your family is currently experiencing financial hardship or receiving social assistance.
For any questions about the bursary program, the Aga Khan Museum’s Summer Camp programs, or if you require assistance filling out this form, please contact learn@agakhanmuseum.org.
To Apply:
- Submit a separate application form for each child.
- Complete all portions of this form. Sections 1 to 5 are mandatory. Section 6 is optional.
- After camp, bursary recipients are required to provide an anonymous testimonial (feedback), which will be shared with the donor whose generosity makes the bursaries possible.
All application information and forms will be kept strictly confidential.
As funding is limited, we encourage early applications to ensure consideration.
Application deadline: June 7, 2025
