Through this hands-on workshop, explore the history of paper as both a practical and artistic material, with inspiration from works in the Aga Khan Museum Collections. Reflect on sustainability and creative reuse as you transform recycled paper into colourful, handmade beads. This form of jewellery-making has deep cultural roots in African traditions, particularly in East Africa — in countries such as Kenya and Uganda — where artisans have long crafted paper beads as a way to create beauty, generate income, and promote environmental awareness. Guided by our Museum Educators, you’ll design and assemble your own paper bead jewellery, giving new life to a timeless material while connecting global craft traditions with contemporary creativity.

Islamic Heritage Month

As part of Islamic Heritage Month, we invite you to explore the impact of Muslim contributions in art and culture through a series of workshops and talks. Learn, connect, and join conversations celebrating knowledge, creativity, and cultural exchange.
