Important Update: Due to circumstances beyond our control, Yahya Hussein Abdallah will no longer be performing on Saturday evening. We are delighted to announce that Tara Moneka will now be joining Tawhida Tanya Evanson for an unforgettable evening of music and poetry. Ticketholders will be contacted with further details.

Join us for a captivating evening of music and poetry, featuring two powerful performances that weave together tradition and contemporary expression.

Tawhida Tanya Evanson

Acclaimed poet, author, and spoken word artist Tawhida Tanya Evanson takes the stage with master musicians Saeed Kamjoo and Bamdad Fotouhi. Evanson presents her newest collection of ghazals in English, brought to life through the evocative sounds of the kamancheh, performed by Kamjoo, with the percussive brilliance of Fotouhi.

Tara Moneka

The evening continues with Tara Moneka, a Black Iraqi artist and singer whose music bridges cultures and traditions. Born in Baghdad and raised in a Sufi family, she blends Jazz, R&B, Soul, Funk, Blues, Maqam, and Afrobeat into a sound that feels both familiar and refreshingly new. Singing in multiple languages—including Arabic, English, Urdu, Spanish, Turkish, and Swahili—Moneka embraces music as a universal language.

The performances feature voice and verse from two powerful women. Evanson with her original spoken word and Moneka with her soulful songs. They are both joined by musical collaborators to create a mesmerizing tapestry of emotions and sound.
