IMPORTANT TAX RECEIPT DEADLINE INFORMATION FOR 2022

Please be advised that the Museum’s Development office will be closed from Friday, December 23, 2022, to Tuesday, December 27, 2022 and on Monday, January 2, 2023. Due to this closure, we would encourage donations and membership purchases or renewals to be completed online, through our Join & Support page.

If you are making a year-end donation or renewing your account as a Friend or Patron of the Aga Khan Museum at a tax-eligible level, all contributions must be received on or before 11:59 pm ET on December 31, 2022 to qualify for a 2022 tax receipt.

If you are sending payment by mail, please ensure that your cheque is dated December 31, 2022, or earlier, and that the envelope is legibly postmarked December 31, 2022, or earlier to qualify for a 2022 tax receipt.

If you are sending gifts of publicly-traded securities, please complete this form for your financial advisor and forward a copy to us at [email protected]. The transfer of shares must be completed and received by the Museum’s financial advisor on or before 11:59 pm ET on December 31, 2022 to qualify for a 2022 tax receipt.

Donations or tax-eligible membership payments received from January 1, 2023, onward will qualify for a 2023 tax receipt..

Your December 2022 tax receipt will be mailed to you by the end of February 2023.


Frequently asked Questions and Answers

Canadian and International residents pay their contributions in Canadian Dollars. Friends of the Museum at the Sustaining level and above receive a Canadian tax receipt, issued for the amount contributed less the value of privileges/benefits (referred to as the Advantage Amount).


Donate: Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more.


Tax Information for U.S.A. Residents:


Through a partnership with the Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A., American donors and Friends at the Patron level and above are eligible to receive a U.S. tax receipt.

U.S.A. residents may deduct their donations to domestic organizations that distribute funds to charities in foreign countries, as long as the U.S.A. organization controls the distribution of the funds. Through an agreement between Aga Khan Museum and Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A., donors to the Aga Khan Museum through the Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A. are granted full Support privileges/benefits with the Aga Khan Museum.

Join & Support: By joining as a Friend of the Aga Khan Museum, you receive privileges/benefits that enable you to closely engage with the activities of the Museum. These privileges/benefits are valid for one year and can be renewed annually.


Donate: When you Donate, you make a one-time charitable donation but do not receive the benefits of becoming a Friend of the Museum.


Many of our Supporters Join & Support as well as Donate at the same time.

We offer a discounted National/International rate ($50) for Friends living 100 km+ from Toronto/outside the M and L postal codes, since they are not able to use their benefits as often as GTA residents.
