Student Visit Capacity / Chaperones
The Museum can accommodate a maximum of 120 students per day. A minimum of 15 students is required to book a school visit. The maximum size for a tour group is 30 students excluding chaperones. Please ensure the following ratios of adult chaperones to students is met: Early Learning (ages 2-5): 1 adult chaperone for every 5 students Primary (grades K-3): 1 adult chaperone for every 5 students Elementary (grades 4-8): 1 adult chaperone for every 20 students High School (grades 9-12): 1 adult chaperone for every 20 students

We are committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment. Do your students have any special education needs that we need to be aware of to ensure an accessible visit? If so, please provide more details, such as appropriate teaching tips or strategies.
Methods Of Payment
In person: We accept debit cards, credit cards, cash, or cheque on the day of arrival at the Farida & Ally Esmail & Family Guest Services Centre. By phone: Pay by credit card over the phone by calling the Education Department at 416 646 4677 ext.7726. Online: If your school is part of the online payment system, simply select “The Aga Khan Museum” from your list of vendors. By mail: We accept school/company cheques. Please make your payment to the Aga Khan Museum and mail to: School Programs Aga Khan Museum 77 Wynford Drive, Toronto,ON M3C 1K1 Canada By direct deposit: Please email us at learn@agakhanmuseum.org and we will send you the necessary banking details to process payment. After submitting your Booking Form, you will receive correspondence within 2 business days. Please note that complete payment is due on the day of your visit for the number of students confirmed in your invoice. Teachers with OCT cards gain free admission. Additional chaperones (i.e. in excess of the required ratio) will be charged the student rate of $8 each. Please note no refunds or changes to group numbers are permitted on the day of your visit. See Method of Payment, Cancellation policy and Changes in Numbers sections below for more details.
Cancellation Policy
Notice of cancellation must be emailed to learn@agakhanmuseum.org no later than 10 business days prior to your visit date. Schools will not be charged for cancelling their visit in the case of inclement weather, and should you need to reschedule you visit, please contact us at learn@agakhanmuseum.org
Changes In Numbers
Changes in numbers can be made up to two business days prior to your visit. Refunds are not permitted on the day of the visit. Please email us at learn@agakhanmuseum.org so that staff resources and revised pricing can be determined.
On-Site Visit Guidelines
Please read our guidelines carefully prior to your visit. Chaperones must stay with their groups at all times. Student capacity varies per program. Please contact us for more information. Each half-day program consists of a tour and a classroom/studio activity unless otherwise arranged. A full-day program consists of a tour and two hands-on workshops. If possible, please leave all bags at school and only bring what students need for their visit. Food (including gum) and drinks are not allowed into the galleries. Please keep your valuables with you at all times. The Museum is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. Please advise students to stay within their groups, to keep their hands to themselves, use their indoor voices, and walk in the galleries. Photography with no flash for personal use is allowed in most galleries, unless otherwise indicated. Please note that while we do not have a designated lunchroom, students are welcome to eat in the Aga Khan Park if the weather permits or in the Museum’s Atrium. If a snack break is required for a half-day program, please let our team know in your booking form or via email at learn@agakhanmuseum.org. Please note that sessions cannot be extended for late arrivals. In the event of a late arrival, the program will be adjusted accordingly. The length of the program cannot be extended beyond the booked duration.
On-Site Student/Teacher Ratios
Ratio: Please ensure the following ratios of adult chaperones to students is met: Early Learning (ages 2-4): 1 adult chaperone for every 5 students Grades K-3: 1 adult chaperone for every 5 students Grades 4-8: 1 adult chaperone for every 15 students Grades 9-12: 1 adult chaperone for every 20 students
Self Guided Visit Guidelines
Please read our guidelines carefully prior to your visit. Chaperones must stay with their groups at all times. If possible, please leave all the bags at school and only bring what students need for their visit. Storage space for your bags and coats is available upon request. Food (including gum) and drinks are not allowed into the galleries. Please keep your valuables with you at all times. The Museum is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. Online Visit Guidelines
Please read our guidelines carefully prior to your virtual field trip. These sessions are offered through Zoom. If you wish to invite one of our Educators into your virtual classroom through another video-conferencing platform, please let us know and share the link with us at learn@agakhanmuseum.org. You will receive the Zoom meeting link in your confirmation email. Refrain from sharing the Zoom link with unapproved third parties. On the confirmed date of your session, please login to your session 15 minutes before it begins to test audio and visual settings. The teacher(s) must login to the session and be present throughout the visit to facilitate student engagement and behaviour. Students should be respectful and attentive during the virtual visit. Keep microphones muted unless given permission to speak by the Museum Educator. Participate in discussions and activities as directed by the Museum Educator. Ask questions and interact with the Museum educator and exhibits as appropriate. Please be advised that recordings, audio and video capture of the virtual field trip are not permitted. This policy is in place to ensure the privacy and comfort of all individuals present during the session. Following the virtual field trip please provide feedback to the Museum about your experience to help improve future virtual visits.
