Shaho Andalibi
Shaho Andalibi is an accomplished Ney player, composer, and Kurdish vocalist with more than 30 years of professional experience in music. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with some of the most distinguished figures in Iranian music, including Master Mohammad-Reza Shajarian, Master Majid Derakhshani, the late Iraj Bastami, Naser Masoudi, Sima Bina, and Master Bijan Kamkar. Shaho Andalibi has contributed as a Ney soloist and ensemble Ney player to more than 40 Iranian music albums, collaborating with many of these prominent artists.
In 2007, he received his Master’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Art in Tehran.
Shaho Andalibi comes from the distinguished Andalibi family, a family with a long-standing legacy in Kurdish and Iranian music. He is the son of the late Master Iraj Andalibi, one of the prominent musicians of Kurdistan, and was also a student of the renowned Ney player Jamshid Andalibi.
Among his notable works as a composer is the album “Lullaby of Awakening,” featuring the renowned vocalist Sima Bina, as well as the albums “Nashmil Nashmil” and “Shawani o Shawani,” featuring Shaho Andalibi as vocalist.
Among his honors and achievements, Shaho Andalibi received a Special Ney Award from the International Rumi Foundation, presented by Yasin Çelebi, a direct descendant of Jalal al-Din Rumi.
In 2018, he received the Aga Khan Global Award in Lisbon, Portugal, presented by the Prime Minister of Portugal and His Highness the Aga Khan.
He has also collaborated with internationally renowned sitar virtuoso Ustad Shujaat Khan on the album “Rang Bakhteh” in the United States. He has additionally received an international UNESCO award and certificate of recognition in France.
Over the past two years, Shaho Andalibi has been teaching ensemble performance and Persian classical repertoire (Radif)as an instructor and faculty member at the Faculty of Music in Tehran. In 2025, he was recognized and honored as an Outstanding University Professor.
Shaho Andalibi is the founder and artistic director of the international Andalib Ensemble, active in both Canada and Iran.
