Pellizco

“Pellizco” is the new production from Iván Vargas. dancer and choreographer from Granada,  A show that is structured in different scenes, without thread plot but linked to each other, reflecting the three most important and fundamental stages in his life and artistic career.  

The first scene captures the return to the stage after the pandemic and the reconnection with flamenco, which is a necessity and a way of life for Iván. After months of uncertainty, Ivan attempts to contemplate how to bring back the Duende’s heartbeat to the stage through a solemn and somber palo known as “caña.”  

The second scene titled “Origen” (Origin), Iván and the guest artist reminisce on their roots and the land that saw them grow; the two emblematic Andalusian cities, Sevilla y Granada. 

In the third and last scene, and perhaps the most moving, Iván pays tribute by showcasing the choreography and music of three of the greatest artists, maestros ,and staples of flamenco in Granada;  Juan Andrés Maya, Manolete y Enrique Morente,   

This is a performance with careful staging and a cast of artists capable of striking thousands of new nuances while presenting traditional flamenco.
