Las Amigas de Duende

“Las amigas de Duende” is a Toronto-based collective of three long-time friends and flamenco artists: JoAnne Frenschkowski, Lupita Diaz, and Paula Videla-Rodriguez, who collectively have nearly ninety years of dance experience. They have trained extensively across Toronto’s flamenco schools and with renowned Spanish maestros both in Toronto and in Spain.

The name of their group honours not only their friendship, but also the spirit and essence of flamenco or “Duende,” which refers to that rare, soul-stirring force that arises when dance, music, and emotion unite to move both artist and audience.
