Chakraborty started her voice training under her mother, Smt. Chandana Chakrabarty and later studied under her father, the renowned singer Padma Bhushan Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty. She was a ganda bandh shagird (formal disciple) of the renowned late musician Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh.
