Bamdad Fotouhi
Bamdad Fotouhi, born in France in 1978, is a musician with over 20 years of experience in Iranian traditional percussion. Alongside a background in Civil Engineering, he is dedicated to preserving and promoting Iran’s musical heritage through performance and education.
He has collaborated with prominent masters such as Hossein Dehlavi, Hossein Alizadeh, Majid Derakhshani, Keivan Saket, Saeed Farajpouri, and Davoud Azad. Since immigrating to Canada in 2013, he has been active in orchestras, festivals, workshops, and community projects.
Since 2018, he has been a member of Ân Trio Ensemble as a percussionist, contributing to research, performance, and educational initiatives. His work has been recognized with awards from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council.
Since 2021, he has been developing “Lessons for Tonbak,” an educational project focused on traditional Iranian drumming methods adapted for modern learning. He currently teaches Tonbak and Daf in Toronto and continues his artistic and educational activities.
