Toronto-based Sarode virtuoso Atish Mukhopadhyay is a prominent torchbearer of the Maihar Seniya Gharana. With over four decades of rigorous training under eminent masters such as Prof. Dhyanesh Khan, Ustad Aashish Khan, Vidushee Ameena Perera, and Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, he has developed a distinctive style that fuses technical mastery with profound spiritual improvisation. Having performed more than 600 solo concerts worldwide, his music bridges ancient traditions with the global stage.

Atish’s international recognition includes the Nikolai Rubinstein Medal from the Moscow Conservatory (2022) and the prestigious Surmani and Sangeet Sadhak titles in India. Dedicated to cross-cultural collaboration, he continues to share the expressive beauty of the sarode while fostering dialogue and artistic exchange across musical traditions.
