About Anish Kapoor

Sir Anish Kapoor (b. Mumbai, India, 1954), CBE, is an internationally renowned British-Indian sculptor and conceptual artist. He was born in Mumbai, India, to a father of Indian Hindu descent and a mother of Iraqi Jewish heritage. Kapoor moved to London in the 1970s and represented Britain at the 44th Venice Biennale and won the prestigious Turner Prize in 1991. Through his works, Kapoor regularly explores the material qualities of colour. He also investigates the physical properties of light and its interplay with surface.
