Amit Kavthekar
A “Ganda-Bandh Shagird” of the late Ustad Allarakha, Amit Kavthekar began his journey as a tabla prodigy at the age of six. Under the tutelage of Ustad Allarakha and later the world-renowned Ustad Zakir Hussain, he refined an artistry that seamlessly blends technical precision with profound musical expression.
Kavthekar has performed worldwide with leading Indian classical maestros, from Google Talks and Berklee College of Music to prestigious Baithaks in India and the United Nations Day Concert. He also collaborates across jazz, fusion, and Western classical music, and is a member of the Purnalokha Quartet, founder of the ensemble Sawaari, and a key performer in Al Di Meola’s Acoustic Trio Project.
