Experience an evening of powerful Sufi voices and rhythms with Saami Brothers Qawwali group, in an off-site performance presented by Small World Music, the Aga Khan Museum, and The Creative School Chrysalis.

Known as 'the path of the heart,' Qawwali music expresses the fervent devotion of the great Sufi mystics. The music begins by drawing the audience in with a meditative rhythm of chants, melodies, and percussion. Steadily, the rhythm builds, reaching ecstatic peaks that transport both musicians and listeners closer to the divine.

This event is ages 4 and up

About the Artists

Saami Brothers are a group of accomplished vocalists and humble custodians of the traditions of Qawwali and Khayaal of Hazrat Ameer Khusrau and Ustad Taanrus Khan Sahab.

The four sons of the critically acclaimed Maestro Ustad Naseeruddin Saami, the Saami Brothers Qawwali are well-versed in several eastern classical genres, currently performing as a Riwayati Qawwali group.

The Saami Brothers grew up in a family filled with rich musical heritage, referred to as Qawal Bachcha Delhi Gharana. The lineage of this Gharana leads back around 800 years to Saamat Bin Ibrahim, a principal student of Hazrat Ameer Khusro.
