The land like gold and the sea like lapis,
like a fine blue and yellow brocaded silk
— Nizami

Explore the many shades of the colour blue in a tour of paintings, ceramics, and glass objects on display in our Museum Collection. Assistant Curator Bita Pourvash will delve into the sources of the beautiful hue, revealing how the colour made its way across the continents. You’ll also find out why the colour blue is such an important literary symbol for mystics and love-crazed personalities.
