In our fifth year, we bring you bold and innovative dance from two of the world’s top Flamenco performers — Eduardo Guerrero and Isaac Tovar — along with iconic local dancers and acclaimed Spanish cinema.

Declared by UNESCO as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, Flamenco is a dance that’s felt as much as it’s seen. Since it arose in Andalusia, Spain, more than 200 years ago, this powerful artform has spread across the world and continues to bring people together for unforgettable performances.

Our 5th Annual Duende Festival, celebrating Flamenco music, dance, and culture, is part of our 2019/20 Performing Arts season, Listening to Each Other, which pays tribute to the role of the performative arts in connecting communities, preserving culture, and spurring social change.

Highlights of the festival include:

  • Esmeralda Enrique’s Spanish Dance Company & Opening Reception with Tablao Flamenco Toronto: The iconic matriarch of Toronto's flamenco community opens our Festival with an intimate and energetic dance performance.
  • Desplante: unforgettable dance from Eduardo Guerrero, one of Flamenco’s boldest and most compelling stars.
  • Encuentro: a unique blend of classical Flamenco dance with modern instrumentals, starring Isaac Tovar, a former soloist at the Ballet Nacional de España.
