Explore our Permanent Collection with a focus on bazm and razm — Persian for banquet and battle — two recurring themes with roots in pre-Islamic times. Assistant Curator Bita Pourvash will guide you, paying special attention to works on paper.
Our Permanent Collection houses more than 1000 artifacts, a selection of which are displayed in our galleries and rotated twice a year.
Bita Pourvash is Assistant Curator at the Aga Khan Museum. She’s a graduate of the University of Toronto, Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations Department. She was also a lecturer at York University, Semnan University, and the Higher Education Center for Iranian Heritage. She is the author of the entry on Bindings that is translated and published in Encyclopaedia Islamica.
