SCHOOL PROGRAMS VISIT

Payment and Pre-Arrival Information

THANK YOU FOR BOOKING YOUR SCHOOL TRIP WITH THE AGA KHAN MUSEUM

If you have not already done so, please fill out a School Booking Form available on our website at: Schools and Teachers.

Please note that a request for guided tours must be booked at least two weeks prior to the expected date of your visit.

BOOKING/CONFIRMATION GUIDELINES FOR GUIDED VISITS

  • *
    Each one-hour tour is accompanied by a one-hour classroom/studio activity unless otherwise arranged between the Museum and the visiting teacher.
  • *
    Each visit must have a minimum of 15 students. Groups with fewer than 15 students will be charged the minimum group rate.
  • *
    Please note no refunds or changes are permitted on the day of your visit. Changes in numbers can be made up to two business days prior to your visit.

There is no charge for the required number of adult supervisors.
The Group Supervision Ratio is:

JK to Grade 3 1:5 students Grades 4 to 8 1:10 students
Grades 4 to 6 1:10 students Grades 9 to 12 1:15 students
Additional chaperones will be charged the student rate of $8 each.

METHODS OF PAYMENT FOR GUIDED VISITS

You can make your payment:
  • *
    By credit card: please call our Booking Coordinator at 416.646.4677 ext. 7801.
  • *
    By school/company cheque: please make your payment to the Aga Khan Museum and mail to School Programs, Aga Khan Museum, 77 Wynford Drive, Toronto ON, M3C 1K1, Canada.
  • *
    By debit card, credit card or cash: on the day of your arrival.
  • Please note that complete payment is due on the day of your visit for the number of students confirmed via booking invoice.

AFTER YOUR BOOKING IS COMPLETE

  • *
    You will receive a confirmation email and invoice with your Booking Number.
  • *
    You may complete your payment at the Tickets Desk with any of these forms of payment: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, debit, cash, or school/company cheque.

CANCELLATIONS

  • *
    Notice of Cancellation must be in writing and received at the Aga Khan Museum by e-mail to learn@agakhanmuseum.org no later than 10 business days prior to your visit date.
  • *
    Schools will not be charged for cancelling a reservation at any time due to inclement weather if buses are cancelled as a result.

CHANGES IN NUMBERS

  • *
    No refunds or changes are permitted on the day of visit. Changes in numbers can be made up to two business days prior to your visit. Please communicate changes in numbers to learn@agakhanmuseum.org or by calling 416.646.4677 ext.7726 before your visit so that staff resources and revised pricing can be determined.

ARRIVAL TIME

  • *
    On the day of your visit, please ensure your group arrives on time; we recommend arriving 15 minutes before the start of the tour.
  • *
    An Aga Khan Museum Educator will meet with your group at the Group Entrance (see map).
  • *
    Your group supervisor or teacher will be directed to the Tickets Desk to complete your payment.
  • *
    Buses will drop off your group in the roundabout area of the Museum (see map). Please arrive at 77 Wynford Drive.

LUNCH

  • Please note we do not have a designated lunch room. If your group is in for a full day program you can use the classrooms for lunch.

GALLERY TOUR GUIDELINES

  • *
    Please bring only what students need for their visit and leave school bags in school if possible.
  • *
    We have a limited coat check space in the education center. Upon arrival a museum educator will guide you through this process.
  • *
    Please keep your valuables with you at all times. The Museum is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • *
    Food (including gum) and drinks are not allowed in the galleries.
  • *
    Please do not bring outside art materials into the galleries unless otherwise specified and agreed upon at the time of booking.
  • *
    The Aga Khan Museum’s Education Centre provides sketchbooks and pencils. Pens and erasers are not allowed in the galleries.
  • *
    Please do not touch objects. Your skin contains oils that can damage many of the objects over time.
  • *
    Photography without flash is allowed for personal use throughout the Museum unless otherwise indicated by signage or a Museum representative. In upper-floor galleries (Temporary Exhibitions), photography is strictly prohibited.
  • *
    Please be respectful of other visitors, particularly in terms of volume and crowding by turning your cellphone on vibrate or silent.
  • *
    Please walk to ensure both your and the artifacts safety.

WORKSHOP GUIDELINES

  • *
    Please respect the ideas, opinions, and works of art shared by others by using positive language and encouragement.
  • *
    Please work co-operatively with others
  • *
    Please help with classroom cleanup of all workshop materials and equipment before leaving
  • *
    Please wear comfortable and washable clothes. Learning and creativity can be a messy process!
